Our team approach
At The Gupte Lab, we believe in the power of teamwork and interdisciplinary approaches to solve complex scientific challenges. Our lab is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and staffed by a diverse group of talented researchers who share a passion for discovery. We focus on various aspects of pharmacology, including drug development, toxicology studies, and clinical research.
Meet the Team
Our team brings together scientists at diverse stages of training who share a common goal: advancing pharmacological research to better understand disease and improve human health. Through collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches, we combine expertise in molecular biology, physiology, and translational science to ask impactful questions, develop rigorous solutions, and train the next generation of biomedical researchers

Program Director, (Ph.D.), Pharmacology. NYMC
Sachin A. Gupte, M.D., Ph.D.
Sachin Gupte, M.D., Ph.D., has over 25 years of training in medicine and basic sciences. His expertise in cardiovascular medicine, vascular biology, and redox signaling equips him to develop novel, translationally relevant hypotheses and to effectively mentor and train students and fellows.
He is currently the Principle Investigator on a number of National Institutes of Health (NIH) Grants

Research Associate, NYMC
Melinee D'Silva, Ph.D.
A very curtious, innovative and research minded scientist , motivated to achieve my goals. I am currently trained in experimental research, data analysis, and translational applications with a strong foundation in cross-functional collaboration. Committed to scientific rigor and global impact.

Ph.D. Candidate, NYMC
Comfort Williams
I am a PhD candidate in Microbiology and Immunology studying epigenetics and 3D genomics, with a focus on how genome organization drives disease. I have broad training in molecular and clinical sciences, a strong interest in science communication and mentorship, and a commitment to advancing genomics education and outreach, particularly in Nigeria.

Ph.D. Candidate, NYMC
Samuel Fatehi
Samuel Fatehi first came to NYMC pursuing a master's degree in the interdisciplinary two-year (BMS) Master's Program. Graduating in May 2023, he earned acceptance to NYMC's School of Medicine.
Growing up with a passion for medicine, Fatehi was inspired by his mother's oncology work and his family's experience with cardiac and vascular diseases. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology at Stony Brook University, then attended NYMC's GSBMS to pursue a master's degree in biomedical science and conduct research in Dr. Gupte's lab, focusing on G6PD mutations and their impact on cardiovascular health. Fatehi aims to continue his research in pursuit of an M.D.-Ph.D..
